2021 Jeep Compass Features
Performance, Handling, and Efficiency
The 2021 Jeep Compass is available in four trims, namely Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk®. The Latitude trims feature two special editions, the Altitude and the 80th Anniversary Edition, which have a few tweaks different from the other trims. All trims featured share the same powertrain, which is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that is capable of 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque.
The engine is offered in tandem with a six-speed automatic transmission standard on the FWD and an optional nine-speed automatic transmission featured in the AWD options. Generally, all 2021 Compasses will have the FWD as standard, and the AWD is optional except for the Trailhawk® trim that has the AWD as standard.
Drivers in the Bay City area will relish several driving modes in the AWD option, including Sand, Snow, and Mud modes, with the Trailhawk® adding a Rock mode.
The 2021 Compass is more agile than its boxy and tall appearance suggests. The steering is well-weighted, making it respond accurately and directly. The 2021 Compass skillfully negotiates tight bends and feels well-controlled, stable, and well planted. When it comes to fuel economy, the 2021 Compass manages an EPA-estimated 22 MPG for city and 31 MPG for highway, a very competitive figure in its segment.
