Determining the Difference with Towing vs. Payload Capacity

How to easily tell the difference between towing vs. payload capacity. Our crew at Feeny Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Midland have some information to help understand the two.

Payload capacity is nothing more than any added weight that is either going to be placed in the bed of your truck on inside the cab. Things like twelve bags of groceries in the cab or a pallet of bricks in the bed, both qualify as payload. If you bring it inside the bed or cab, you have increased the payload.

Now anything you are pulling behind the truck is considered towing capacity. For example, if you are pulling a trailer with your boat or landscaping equipment, it is towing capacity. If you hook up a tow like to the bumper to pull another car, this is considered still towing capacity.

Bring your truck to our service center here at Feeny Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Midland so we can get you set up for a maintenance inspection.
